2010 Photo Summary

May/June

This early season saw ole man weather take over. Our season opened up with a bang but then in early June, right when our renown salmon fly hatch was just getting started, it rained. And rained. and rained!! We still tricked a few trout to rising to the big bugs but all the while we were waiting for drier weather. Then in late June after floating at 7200cfs ( normally 4000 cfs)  things dried out and the caddis came on as strong as I've seen in many years. Many other mayfies including PMD's and drakes were out too. But is was the caddis that took over our fly selection. #16 Tan X-Caddis was the fly of choice.
June/July
Our  June wet weather is behind us and the fishing is great!  You can see the high water in this photo of Matt who is sporting our new wader rentals.  Matt, and his parents Bob & Carolyn received a full day of instruction to help them get started in their fly fishing careers.
Ah yes, the rewards of booking a full day trip.:Lots of instruction, coaching and even a few fish !!
Come July we're off to another fun summer with temps in the 90's!
For July wet wading is the order of the day. No waders needed now as we cast the Mayflies and target the big native redsides that eat them.
August
The trout season is still going strong with many nice fish in the net this summer.  We'll continue to guide trout right through the end of October. But, the steelhead are IN the river as we speak! Biologists predict this years run will surpass last seasons all time record breaker.  The number of steelhead being counted over the fish ladders are amazing. Looks like all our conservation work and support of organizations like Trout Unlimited is working. Plus some excellent ocean conditions doesn't hurt either! We're guiding trips #4 & #5 below Maupin for steelhead right now. The rest of this month into early September this is where we'll find the most fish. Then back to our home water trips # 1,2 and 3 for the rest of the year through Thanksgiving.
September/October-
Steelhead season is upon us  and once again we are seeing great numbers of fish coming our way!The river ( and air ) temps have cooled quite a bit and many fish are moving their way up river and hopefully on the end of your line once again. Warm water temps in August slowed our run down but September saw things picking right back up. We saw a typical steelhead run this season with most clients seeing 2-3 fish days. Great weather helped make camp even more enjoyable as we sat around the campfire telling lies about the one we almost landed!  Craig landed this beauty after about one minute of casting a "Switch Rod" for the first time! Nice fish Craig!
