If you can't schedule the time for a Multi-Day, then a day trip is your next best bet. Trip #1 is by far the most popular for Trout and Steelhead. Trip #4 is very seasonal for Steelhead only as the runs work their way upriver.

Here's a Trout/Steelhead fishing calendar on Trip #1

May
Higher water with hungry fish. If it's warm enough and the bugs are out, we're on top. The nymphing is really good in May and emerger patterns produce some memorable fights.

June
The Salmonfly hatch in June each year is one of the best times for top water action. The Salmonflies and Golden Stones provide alot of action and major fun to be had. Although the nymphing continues to be outstanding, the big bugs are out and we spend the majority of our time casting dry flies on top.

July
We do alot of wet wading during the hot, dry summer of the high desert. The top water action
in July and August is a blast. The Caddis and Mayflies are everywhere. The top water dry fly action is mostly 5pm - dark on the Deschutes River. The nymphing during the day is also outstanding with some occassional top water back eddie action. There could be an occassional early summer steelhead bending your rod too!

August
Trout fishing is still going good but beginning to slow a bit. Our attention has shifted to Steelhead as our ocean going friends are making the turn from the Columbia River into the Deschutes. here we shift to Trip # 4 and #5.

September - October
In both September and October you are in the prime season for renown Deschutes Steelhead. The trout season has slowed but it's not over by any means. Usually by this time of year we're working hard with the 7 & 8 weights in hopes of connecting with that 32" native steelie! Late September and all of October the fish are "in". They've reached the Dam right above the put in and turned around. Soon, thanks to the Warm Springs Tribe and PGE they'll be making their way up into Lake Billy Chinook and it's tributaries and then most importantly - BACK!!! Here's a Steelhead fishing calendar on Trip #4

July
The steelhead are beginning their journey from the Pacific Ocean then on up the mighty Columbia River to the confluence of the Deschutes. Each year the timing of the runs depend on many factors - ocean condidtions, the water temperature in the Columbia River and most importantly the migration the smolts had 3-4 years ago on their way out to the Pacific. Generally we see good numbers of fish beginning in lJuly.

August
What fish haven't reached us in July are sure to come in August. For an early season steelhead bend in your rod, this is the time and place to be!

September
Early September we begin our shift to follow the fish as they progress upstream. Here we shift to Trips #1-#3.
